Prolotherapy is an injection treatment that delivers an irritant solution (dextrose) into tendons, ligaments and muscle attachments to cause the proliferation of new tissue, and to strengthen and shorten the collagen fibers that are already there.  It is used to treat a myriad of different musculoskeletal pain conditions and instability syndromes.  Prolotherapy is used to treat enthesopathies (pain originating in ligaments) all over the body, from the spine to the extremities. It is used in shoulder, wrist, elbow, knee, hip, ankle, sacroiliac, low back and neck pain.  Enthesopathies are known to cause pain that radiates in same way as cervical and lumbar ridiculer symptoms such as sciatica.  When used along with Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine to assure the joints are in, and remain in proper alignment throughout the treatment, it can often be the answer to some of the most complex and perplexing symptom presentations.
